Donor Family Support

In recognition that outreach and support for donor families are integral to the donation continuum, a provincially-coordinated Family Support and Aftercare program for donor families was established. The Donor Family Support program offers to donor families the option of continued support, the opportunity to communicate anonymously with the recipients of their gifts, and recognition for their courage and generosity. This relationship between TGLN staff and donor families begins when consent is granted and continues for up to 12 months with personal support, the provision of information materials, donor recognition events and other support measures. Trillium Gift of Life Network has many initiatives underway to support Ontario's organ and tissue donor families.

Donor Family Advisory Council

The Donor Family Advisory Council was formed in September of 2003. This group of dedicated donor family members, who hail from all across Ontario continue to provide guidance on the formation and implementation of best practices to support donor families during and after the donation experience. The council has been an integral part of the creation of Trillium Gift of Life Network's Family Support and Aftercare Program.
