Ways You Can Make a Difference

There are many ways you can help spread the message of giving the gift of life. Trillium Gift of Life Network has available a Volunteer Resource Kit for those volunteers that are active in the community. In addition to the ideas provided below, the Volunteer Resource Kit provides detailed information and helpful tools for setting up speaking opportunities, organizing community and special events, and talking with the media. Activities you can explore:

• Schedule an information session at your church, synagogue, temple, or mosque
• Make a presentation at your workplace, local service or sporting club
• Arrange for your workplace to display organ and tissue donation cards and information pamphlets
• Call the principal or superintendent of a local high school to schedule a presentation with grade 11 & 12 biology classes
• Organize a local community event during National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week in April
• Arrange an information display at your workplace during National Health and Safety Week
• Contact the facilities department of a local shopping mall and arrange to set up an information display
• Distribute organ and tissue donation cards and information pamphlets at your local block party
• Write an article for your workplace newsletter, or if you belong to a professional association submit an article to be published in the association's newsletter
