Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 222

Members of the CAW Local 222 and Trillium Gift of Life Network volunteers will host the 3rd Annual Living Green Ribbon event on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the CAW Local 222 offices, 1425 Phillip Murray Avenue in Oshawa. Participants wearing green ponchos and carrying YES cards will form a Living Green Ribbon in support of organ and tissue donation. All are welcome.

Grand River, St. Mary's, Guelph General and Cambridge Memorial hospitals will host an information and "Register Your Consent" booth at each hospital from Monday April 19, 2010 to Friday April 23, 2010, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is a challenge during National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week to see which hospital can register the highest number of people consenting to organ and tissue donation. Trillium Gift of Life Network volunteers will be on hand to provide you with information about organ and tissue donation and answer your questions. Registration forms will be available at the booths to make it convenient to register your consent. Come out to register in support of organ and tissue donation and help your local hospital win the challenge.

London Transplant Gift of Life Association, in conjunction with London Health Sciences Centre, will again host an organ and tissue donation awareness display booth at the Western Fair Spring Home and Garden Show in London. The booth will be open from Friday, April 23, to Sunday, April 25, in the Community Service Area in the Progress Building at the Western Fair Grounds. The recipient quilt and album will be on display, organ and tissue donation awareness materials will be available and volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions. Niagara Falls Illuminated Green in Honour of Organ and Tissue Donation

Supporters of organ and tissue donation will gather at Niagara Falls to raise awareness for the Gift of Life in honour of National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week. Donor families and transplant recipients will take part, and Trillium Gift of Life staff members will be on hand. Niagara Falls will be illuminated in green at 9 to 9:15 p.m. and again at 10 to 10:15 p.m. Please Note: At 10 p.m., to coincide with the second illumination of the Falls, Canadian and American participants will form a symbolic living green ribbon across the Rainbow Bridge. Participants will be wearing green ponchos and holding green glow sticks in honour of organ and tissue donation.

The Irish Heritage Club will be holding a press conference on Monday April 26, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Tom Davies Square (City Hall) in Sudbury to increase awareness of organ and tissue donation and to publicize the Walk for a Second Chance, which will take place on Saturday May 1, 2010. Local dignitaries will participate, and Dr. Frank Markel, President and CEO of Trillium Gift of Life Network, will be the guest speaker.
