National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week
April 22-28, 2012

The numbers are shocking - there are nearly 1,500 people waiting for an organ in Ontario, and every three days one of them dies because there is no organ available for transplant. Every donor has the potential to save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of up to 75 others through tissue donation.

This year, National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week (NOTDAW) runs from April 22 - 28, and we need YOUR help to spread the word about organ and tissue donation.

How can you help?

Become a registered organ and tissue donor.

As of January 31, 2012, just 21% of eligible Ontarians were registered organ and tissue donors. A signed donor card is not enough; visit BeADonor.ca or your local ServiceOntario centre to register your consent to organ and tissue donation, or to check to see if you are registered.

Host a NOTDAW event/Awareness event

If you would like to host an event, please send an email to communityevents@giftoflife.on.ca.

Please be sure to include the following details:
- Contact name of the event organizer
- Date of your event
- Time of your event
- Location for your event
- Name of your event
- Number of people expected

NOTE: In order to ensure that all materials are sent to event organizers in a timely manner, all of the above information must be included in your first email, otherwise Trillium Gift of Life Network will be unable to fulfil your order.
